About Causeway Bay

Strategically located at the mid point of Hong Kong Island, Causeway Bay is famous for being major shopping district of the island. It covers a densely built up area East of Canal Road, North of Happy Valley, and includes the Victoria Park, Tai Hang and Tin Hau West of North Point.

Due to the high affluent pedestrian flow, retail establishments are fighting to get their foothold in this golden shopping district. Sogo, Times Square and Hysan Place are some of the notable retail landmarks in the district. There are Grade A office buildings, such as Times Square, Windsor House, and a cluster of buildings within the Hysan’s Porfolio, including Lee Garden, Hysan Place, etc.

Situated in a strategic location, Causeway Bay has been a heavily built-up area since early days. Earlier developments include standalone residential buildings with retail shops on the Ground Level. There are also larger scale developments along Paterson Street and Kingston Street. Due to the high value retail shops, it may not be commercial feasible to acquire retail spaces for redevelopment. Certain parts of area along Yan Ping Road remain underdeveloped due to the restrictive covenant in the land leases. As a result, with the exception of Park Haven, The Warren, Warrenwoods, and yoo Residences, there is a lack of new residential projects in Causeway Bay.
